Plant Savers and Rescues

As Forsyth County continues its rapid development, there are sometimes forgotten victims: native plants.

Why We Do It

These indigenous plants disappear along with the trees as wooded acreage gets cleared for new housing developments and commercial establishments. Master Gardeners are able to help save native plants destined for destruction by joining the Georgia Native Plant Society and participating in Scheduled Plant Rescues.

By doing this, native plants can be relocated to native plant gardens at Sawnee Mountain Preserve and the Bookworm Shade Garden for all citizens to enjoy.

If you know of an area with at-risk plants that you would like to see rescued, please contact the Georgia Native Plant Society
