Feeding Those in Need
Several times a month,The First Christian Church in Cumming collects bread and canned goods from local donors and distributes food-stuffs to those in need from a little white building behind the church.
With permission from the church, Master Gardeners collected donations of soil amendments, seeds and starter plants from local companies and transformed an abandoned garden on the property into a productive food producing garden. Weekly they donate their time to maintaining the crop, performing weed maintenance, and harvesting fresh seasonal vegetables. All of the produce is donated to the food bank and distributed along with canned goods to help those in need receive fresh vegetables for a healthier and more complete diet.
